As a non-bonded tour operator, King of the Mountains do not offer travel included in the cost of their holidays. However, we can advise you as to what is the easiest and most economical way to get to us.

Lyon Saint Exupéry, (formerly kown as Lyon Satolas), is only 2 hours away from us and is served by British Airways, Ryanair and Easyjet

The nearest airport to the King of the Mountains chalet is Grenoble-Isere, (sometimes referred to as Grenoble St Geoirs).Travel time is around 1hr 30mins in average traffic conditions. Operators are currently running a winter schedule only, with no summer flights unfortunately.

Geneva airport is served by Easyjet and by British Airways but is a longer transfer from the chalet (typically 2hr 30 mins to 3 hours). Geneva airport would be a good option for those wishing to fly-drive.

The best information on flights is available at source from individual carriers, so please check there first.

Please contact us if you need airport transfers. We offer these via our sister company,, a year-round transfer service based here in the Oisans. They are able to collectyou directly from the airport or railway station and back, straigt to the chalet door.

If you wish to take public transport from Lyon airport, then it can be done. There is a bus from the airport to Grenoble rail & bus station and then a service from there to Bourg d'Oisans, which takes bike boxes. From there we'll be able to give you a lift up the hill, so long as we're not in the middle of cooking dinner!.

All of the above airports offer a good choice of car rental (see our Links page page for suggestions). Travel to us from these airports is mainly via toll roads (see driving directions in following section). It is worth considering the size of vehicle required if travelling with serveral large bike boxes or bags.

If travelling from the south east of England, the Eurostar is a fantastic and easy way to travel, it takes only 6 hours to reach Grenoble including one simple change in Paris (Paris Nord to Paris Gare de Lyon). It's also worth looking at the Kent termini at Ashford and Ebbsfleet too; some services from these stations offer an easier change in Lille, avoiding Paris altogether. On arrival, Grenoble train station also has a good choice of hire car providers.

If you are planning on driving out from the UK or one of the above airports, we are not too difficult to find. Follow the link for detailed directions:driving directions As a rough guide, if taking toll roads from Calais or Dieppe, your journey time to us will be approximately 8 - 9 hours.
